Manage user access and admin roles
Chart administrator role required
User roles in TeamOrgChart control who has access to certain charts and functionality. Users can be assigned more than one role, the permissions from each assigned role are combined.
These roles apply only within TeamOrgChart. They do not provide any additional privileges or permissions in Entra ID or elsewhere in Microsoft 365.
Types of roles
| Chart administrators | Can create, edit, delete, and manage charts they administer. |
| Planners | Can create plans from charts they have access to. |
| User administrators | Can assign TeamOrgChart roles to other users. |
| Read-only | Can view charts they have permission to access. This is the default role for users who are not assigned an admin or planning role. |
Assign a role
- From the App Settings menu, navigate to the User Security page.
- Find the role you want to assign.
- Search for and select the person or security group you want to add.
- Select Assign Role or Add User to save the assignment.
We recommend assigning at least two chart administrators so charts can still be managed if one administrator is unavailable.
Remove a role
- From the App Settings menu, navigate to the User Security page.
- Find the person in the relevant user role list, then select Remove from Role.

- Search for and open the TeamOrgChart enterprise application.
- Open Users and Groups, then select Add user/group.
- Select the user or group that should receive access.
- Choose the appropriate TeamOrgChart role, such as Chart Administrator, then assign it.
