Create a chart from Microsoft Entra ID
To create a full organization chart from Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), you may need to grant an additional permission.
The required permission is Directory.Read.All. This allows TeamOrgChart to read data from your organization's directory. The permission can only be granted by a Global Administrator. This is a one-time operation and can be completed from the Permission Settings page. When prompted, complete the Microsoft consent workflow.
Organization charts created from Microsoft Entra ID automatically synchronize with changes in your Entra ID environment. Updates typically appear in your organization chart within thirty minutes, though in some cases they may take longer.
Build a chart from Entra ID
- From either the Dashboard or Chart Selector, select Create a chart.
- Enter a name for your chart and select Microsoft Entra ID as the data source.
- Choose the starting position for your chart by searching for a person within your organization or using one of the Dynamic Start Position rules.
- Use Start from User if the chart should open from the current user's position instead of a fixed person.
- Select Save. Your chart will be created and ready to view.
What if I only see my own chart box?
If you only see a single box with your own details, it’s likely that your Entra ID directory is missing the necessary manager information.
Go to the Data Health page and run a Data Health Check. This will review your data and identify any issues that may be causing the problem.
